Biggest Rodeos in The US You Can’t Miss

If you are looking for a genuine country experience, then these rodeos are a must see. At Sheplers Western Wear, we have a few recommendations.

Prescott Frontier Days

When: July 1 – 7

Where: Prescott, Arizona

About: Also known as the World’s Oldest Rodeo, Prescott Frontier Days first started in 1888. The event lasts for eight days, so there is plenty of rodeo to see when it fits your schedule. You will witness numerous events with each performance including bull riding, steer wrestling, bareback, and barrel racing.

What to Wear: Because it claims to be the oldest rodeo in the world, we suggest a more traditional country getup. Think jeans or jean shorts, traditional cowgirl boots, and a cute top for her. Think jeans, a button-down, and of course a cowboy hat. Temperature can also drop a bit at night in this area, so if you tend to get cold easily, bring a jacket or wear sleeves that can be unrolled as the night goes on.

Pendleton Round-Up

When: September 7 – 14

Where: Pendleton, Oregon

About: The Pendleton Round-Up transforms the town into rodeo central. Not only will there be the rodeo itself, but the round-up includes a parade, live music, nightly shows, and a carnival.  It is a week’s worth of fun for the whole family.

What to Wear: While thinking about rodeo outfits, you need to take in to account the weather. Because Oregon is farther north, you will want to dress a little warmer, especially if you are not used to it. We suggest a long-sleeve western shirt for him and a fringe jacket for her so you are both stylish and warm.

Cody Stampede Rodeo

When: All Summer Long

Where: Cody, Wyoming

About: If you are looking for one of the biggest rodeos in the US, then this is the place to go. Known as the Rodeo Capital of the World, Cody is home to nightly rodeo events and attract tourists from around the country. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Cody Stampede.

What to Wear: Since this town attracts so many visitors, why not try to stand out? Now might be a good time to break out your attention-grabbing Corral cowgirl boots to add to your cute rodeo outfit. Men can break from tradition with a stylish country graphic t-shirt and a jacket.

ACM Red Carpet: Get the Look

On April 7th, country music stars crowded the ACM red carpet at the MCM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Cowboy boots strutted down the walkway. Belt buckles flashed in the spotlight. And sequin dresses stole the show. While the Academy of Country Music Awards weighs in on the best country music of the past year, at Sheplers Western Wear we are looking into the ACM awards fashion and helping you get these celebrity looks.

ACM Awards 2019 Red Carpet Fashion

Let’s start at the beginning. As host of the awards, Reba McEntire had high standard of ACM fashion to meet and she succeeded. Her stunning red fringe dress was a great mix between simple and elegant. Idyllwind has some great fringe dresses and skirts to match her style. Her sequin cowboy boots were also a nice touch. Add the Roper Fancy Silver Inlay Cowgirl boots and you have your outfit.

The Brother Osborne

T.J. Osborne and John Osborne of The Brothers Osborne went for western cowboy clothing that was over the top. Rather than a sleek suit like many of the men, these two went for some dramatic pops of color. Their retro suit jackets featured patterns and fun designs that stood out against the crowd. They also weren’t afraid to rock some traditional western wear accessories like a bolo tie, giant belt buckle, and of course, a cowboy hat. Get the look with a Scully men’s vintage western shirt. They have plenty of fun patterns and designs to choose from. Of course, complete with look with any number of accessories.

Numerous women including Maddie Marlow, Hannah Mulholland, Brittany Aldean, and Kacey Musgraves walked the ACM red carpet in pant suits and jumpers. These women proved that you don’t need flashy dresses to look good. Try out this look with a western wear jumpsuit.

Dennis Quaid made an appearance on ACM awards red carpet, but he strayed from the typical formal suit and men’s western wear. Instead, this actor went for western style clothing that was a bit edgier. His all black attire included a graphic t, black jeans, and a sleek leather jacket. You, too, or your boyfriend can look like Quaid with the Milwaukee Leather Men’s Quilted Shoulders Snap Collar Leather Jacket and a pair of dark Wrangler jeans. Of course, don’t forget a pair of cowboy boots for men. Our online western clothing store has plenty to choose from.

Whether you are attending a red carpet-level event or just looking for western style clothing for date night, at Sheplers Western Wear we have everything you need to look like the stars.

Country Music and the 2019 Grammy Awards

Red carpet and music awards

On Sunday February 10, stars from across the country gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to celebrate the best music from this past year and the industry’s brightest stars. Top country music stars strutted their stuff down the red carpet in an assortment of formal country wear including, of course, some cowboy hats and men’s cowboy boots. Walter Payne rocked a large belt buckle and Dolly Parton showed off a fun western dress. As a leading western style clothes retailer, we were impressed.

Country music has always had a reputation for being a category all its own, but in many respects, this year country music was in the spotlight. There were country music performances that rocked the night and country music Grammy winners walking away delighted.

Country Music Grammy Winners

It was a good night for country music and country music artists. There were plenty of country music Grammy winners this year.

Brandi Carlile walked away with three Grammys for Best Americana Album, Best American Roots Song, and Best American Roots Performance. She was also nominated for 3 other awards.

Dan + Shay, best known for their hit song “Tequila,” joined the ranks of country music Grammy winners. They took home their first Grammy award for Best Country Duo/Group.

The country music star of the night, however, was Kacey Musgraves, going home with four Grammys and a wonderful performance. Although competition was tough, Kacey Musgraves won Best Country Solo Performance for “Butterflies,” Best Country Song for “Space Cowboy,” Best Country Album and the biggest honor, Album of the Year, for Golden Hour. She also won Best Country Album in the same night.

Country Music Performances at The Grammys

Kacey Musgraves performed her song “Rainbow” on stage in a white gown as the lights behind her glowed all the colors of the rainbow. She later walked away with both Best Country Album and Album of the Year.

Though her hands were full with her three Grammys, Brandi Carlile performed her well-known song “The Joke.”

Dan+ Shay jumped up to sing “Tequila” as members of the audience sang along to the hit song.

Country music’s truly shining moment is attributed to the tribute performance honoring country star icon, Dolly Parton. Numerous stars graced the stage alongside Dolly Parton herself during the performance to sing and honor this country music legend. Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Miley Cyrus, Maren Morris, and Little Big Town joined Dolly Parton at different moments to sing a medley of her most popular music including “Jolene” and “9 to 5.”

The 2019 Grammys were, once again, a night to remember for country music stars, who were the center of attention in many ways. At Sheplers Western Wear, we are excited for next year’s red carpet, striking performances and the next country music Grammy winners. So, stock up on your formal western cowboy clothing as we anticipate this year’s other country music awards and next year’s Grammys.
