Sheplers-St-Patricks-Day

Every year on March 17, people all over the globe get together and celebrate through parades, dancing, food, and everything that’s green, for what we all know as St. Patrick’s Day. Sheplers men’s western wear is here to share with you a brief description of how St. Patrick’s Day came about.

St. Patrick is known as the patron saint of Ireland, being an important figure in Irish Catholic history. According to traditional stories, St. Patrick was kidnapped and brought to Ireland at the age of 16. He escaped and reunited with his family in Britain after listening to a voice in his dreams, in which he called The Voice of the Irish. The voice later on told him to go back to Ireland. He then became a priest and spent the rest of his live converting the Irish people to Christianity.

The date is to commemorate the day that St. Patrick died. Sheplers men’s western wear says that sources claim St. Patrick was mostly forgotten after his passing. However, people in Ireland began to observe St. Patrick’s Day as a feasting day.

Sheplers men’s western wear store shares that the color green came from the connotation to Ireland and the springtime. Wearing the color green came from the American tradition that helped ward off the leprechauns, or Celtic fairies. Wearing green keeps you from getting pinched; like a leprechaun would do if they saw you with no green on.

St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! Sheplers men’s western wear says to bring out your green, find some lucky shamrocks, and get ready for a fun-filled annual celebration!

Things We Love About the Country

From the great outdoors to the Southern hospitality, places without roads and fences to front porch rocking chairs, there is a lot to love about the country. Sheplers, your one stop shop for all things western wear, has compiled a short list of things we love about the country. Great chances are you love these things just as much as we do.

The peace and quiet. Going from the city to the country is a big difference. When it’s quiet outside, you can hear all the peaceful noises of the country, like the bird chirping, the rain falling, the horses neighing, the roosters crowing, and the wind rustling the trees. Even more lovely is the sound of the crickets and other insects at sundown.

Your friendly neighbors. People out in the country tend to be close-knit. You know in the movies where a character knocks on their neighbor’s door? Sheplers western wear says it’s just like that.

The stars. From the lack of lights illuminating out of skyscrapers, you can thoroughly enjoy the night sky for all that it’s worth from here on earth.

The room for farming and gardening. Sheplers western wear agrees that the best meals are the ones that are made from love, out of ingredients straight from your own sources. You can’t grow a garden or raise livestock anywhere else, and that’s what we love about the country.

Throwing a Country Western Party for Your Child

Throwing birthday parties is one of the best parts about having children. If it is time to throw a party for the light of your life, saddle on up and make it a fun, country western party! Sheplers women’s western wear has a few ideas that you can implement into this themed birthday party.

Create rustic signs. You can use inexpensive planks of balsa wood to create signs for around the party. Stain them with wood stain and add some text to them with a paint pen. Sheplers women’s western wear says the color white looks best of the wooden planks. If you want to add an extra touch, you can hot glue a rope trim around the edges of the sign.

Make a backdrop for pictures. Have a backdrop for party-goers to stand in front of and take photos. You can find a long sheet of craft paper or fabric that resembles ragged wood stain for a leathery look.

Country western party themed snacks and drinks. Implement some finger foods that make you feel right in the country, like these peanut butter haystacks. One of our favorite country snacks at Sheplers women’s western wear is our mix of chicken feed. Put granola and M&Ms inside a bucket for some country-feeling fun! For the beverages set up cups and a pitcher with homemade lemonade, and include a milk bar, with different ways to flavor your milk.

Party favors. For all of your guests to go home with a little memory from your child’s country western party, make goodie bags that resemble barns, and leave them all with their own miniature petting zoo! You can find little farm animal figurines at your local Target, Walmart, or even the dollar store.
